The Netherlands
The Netherlands
On our trip to the Netherlands we were able to explore Amsterdam (North Holland), Leiden and The Hague (South Holland).
Did you know that Holland is actually called a flat country and is one of the “low countries” in terms of elevation.
It’s easy to explore the different cities of Holland because it’s a small country, but riding the train which btw are 100% powered by wind energy, is not that cheap!
Amsterdam
Amsterdam’s canals were created for defense and were later on became very important for trading.
Amsterdam is truly unique with all its canals, its openness to Cannabis and… etc. hahaha!
Things you can do in Amsterdam:

Leiden
This is actually my favorite city in The Netherlands, it’s so beautiful and laidback! We rented out an Airbnb here and it was conveniently close to the grocery and a laundromat.
I want to go back here and just enjoy the vibe, walk all day, drink coffee and appreciate the scenery!
The Hague
South Holland’s Capital and is also the seat of government of the Netherlands.
The Hague has this modern metropolitan vibe and yet feels warm… perhaps because of the abundant greeneries…
There are actually a lot of hip cafes and terraces you can explore in The Hague!
I loved appreciating the architecture here, eat raw herring near the Binnenhof ( I think the name of the stall is Malse Maatjes), and go shopping!
*btw there are a lot of birds near the Binnenhof, one bird actually tried to steal a herring from my mom!!! HAHAHA!!!
Points of Interest:
Hall of Knights, also known as Ridderzaal (first photo), building that dates back from the Medieval Period.
Binnenhof
Madurodam, is a park which houses extensive miniatures depicting life in the Netherlands
The Mauritshuis, one of Den Haag’s most important museum.
